Vista is the leading local charity working with children and adults living with sight loss in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. Our existing staff members are working in seven hospitals across the County and Rutland, who are unable to offer support to every patient – meaning that many people are at risk of leaving the hospital following their diagnosis feeling upset, isolated and unaware of the help that is available to them.
Vista is the only organisation in the area currently delivering voluntary services in local hospitals that help people come to terms with a sight loss diagnosis. We are seeking to implement a new volunteer-supported project to enhance and expand upon our existing ECLOs (Eye Clinic Liaison Officer) service. This will ensure that a greater number of people are able to access this vital support within their local communities. To meet this need, our project will establish contact with local health centres, a fully-trained volunteer sight loss advisor could visit your premises and raise awareness about how Vista could offer information about the eye care pathway, advice about the prevention of sight loss and raise awareness about sight loss in general.
